Letter Dear Drama Parents, Welcome to the FHTMS drama program for 2008.
We are very fortunate to have the outstanding artistic team of
Kelly Kendall (director), Nate Venet (music director), Doris O’Brien
(choreographer) and we are especially thrilled to welcome back 6th
grade teacher, Our drama program strives to develop a high-level middle school performance, but this can only be done with tremendous support from both the parents and the staff. Every parent is strongly encouraged to participate in the production because it truly does take an army to put on a show. Please review the following parent volunteer opportunities. All families are expected to assist with the production, including: Parent
Volunteer Opportunities T-Shirt Coordinator: Seeking one parent to coordinate t-shirt orders and distribution. Sponsorship: Looking for a few parents who are willing to seek corporate donations to help cover the cost of the performance. Publicity: Looking for people to help distribute posters around town, write articles for the Other Paper, the FHTMS newsletter, etc. Props: Parents needed to help work behind the scenes with various props needed for the show. Costumes: Parents are needed to help search the schools’ drama closet for costumes and make minor alterations, if needed. No sewing aptitude required to participate. Set Construction and Painting: No prior experience necessary. Generally work on Saturday mornings. Great experience and fun for all family members. Program: Need one or two parents to work on the show program. A copy of last year’s program can be used as a guide. Gifts/Thank Yous: One or two parents are needed to coordinate gifts and thank yous. Social: Parents needed to assist with the drama social scheduled for March 28th Hair/Make-up Design: Looking for several parents to help style hair or apply make-up prior to each performance during show week. Cast/Crew Care & Feeding: Looking for several parents to help serve snacks/meals to the cast/crew during show week and assist with the cast party after strike on Saturday night. Photography: Looking for a few parents to take photos of the cast/crew during show week. All photos will be compiled onto a CD and then sold at cost. Parents can also hang photos/bio of each cast/crew member in the lobby during show week. Flowers: One parent is needed to purchase and organize the sale of flowers during the performances. The drama program will cover all expenses incurred. Bake Sale/Concessions/Flower Sales: Need a few parent volunteers to run concessions and sell flowers during show performances. All parents will be asked to donate baked goods for the concession sale. House:
Need one
parent to help coordinate the front lobby and front of house.
Responsibilities include recruiting ushers and being available in
the front lobby before and after the show and during intermission. Green
Room/Hallway Support:
Need parents to supervise green rooms (where students are housed
during the performance when they are not on stage), assist with costume
changes if needed and supervisor hallway activity (when students go back
and forth between the green rooms and the stage) at the high school. All families
will be asked to provide baked goods and volunteer for at least one show
to help supervise green rooms, hallways and front lobby during
