South Burlington High School does an exchange with a French high school named Lycée Laure Gatet. The students from France come to South Burlington every other year in October and the American students go to France in February. The French come around Halloween and stay for three weeks. They don't celebrate Halloween in France so the students want to learn about trick or treating and costumes. It rarely
snows in Périgueux so one year when they were having their usual
Halloween party it began to snow. The French students were so exited
that they ran out into the night and started to dance in the falling
snow. I will never forget the look on Mme. Gill's face and the faces of
my friends in the class as she told us this story. Page by J. L. For

French is a lot of fun, and if you continue to study it when you are a junior or senior in high school you'll get the chance to apply for the French Exchange. You can spend three weeks talking French to French people.
This year when the French students came our class was ready. We had made poems about Halloween to read to the French students in both French and English.
Examples of these poems are posted on this site. Please check them out when you have a chance because some of the people who wrote these poems are very talented.
The poems were a big hit among the French and most of them went home with their favorite poem.
