Help us celebrate the Month of the Young Adolescent, in October, and Teen Read Week, the week of October
19 - 25, 2003. Join us in a celebration of reading and young adult literature by joining in the
Fall Book Buddy Bonanza. During the months of October and November parents are invited to visit the Middle School Library to choose a title from our
collection of adolescent fiction. If you have trouble getting to the library during our hours of 7:30 AM until 3:45 PM, ask your child to choose two copies of a book to bring home for the project. Partner with your middle school student, and discuss the books together. You may choose to read something your student is already reading for school. This is an opportunity to enter the rich and rewarding world of adolescent literature and share in the bounty with your child. Reading together provides opportunities to discuss issues important to your child and to glimpse the tumultuous and rewarding world of the early adolescent.
Click here for a Book Buddy Favorites booklist. After completing the book, share your reactions with other members of the middle school community. Write a review on the bookmark
provided when you check out your books. Feel free to decorate and elaborate on the back of the bookmark. Please complete one bookmark for each title you read. Return the bookmarks to the library and watch the colored bookmarks of autumn fill the Book Buddy Tree. For every book you and your child read your child’s name will be entered in a drawing and he or she will be eligible to win prizes.
Our celebration ends with the Middle School Book Fair on Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13, from 7:30 AM until 3:45 PM. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Scholastic Book Fair during the school day on one of these two days. Parents are invited to attend the Book Fair and help support this library fundraiser. Prizes will be awarded during the Bookfair.
