Reading Quest Purpose

Our purpose for reading quest is to emphasize literacy and interpersonal skills at Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School.  It is an opportunity for the group to share and discuss student concerns, involve students in decision making and to be responsive to the different needs of each student.

The reading quest group meets everyday for twenty minutes.  By meeting everyday it's our goal that the following goals be attained:

1.    To provide an environment in which students develop a sustained,   relationship with at least one adult member of the staff.

2.    To provide opportunities to develop positive peer and adult relationships.

3.    To assist students in the development of positive self image.

4.    To teach how to monitor their academic progress.

5.    To help students accept responsibilities for consequences of their own behavior by developing skills for decision - making.
