Samsung's Hope for Education Contest- write a 100 word essay.  Contest prizes include:

One Grand Prize

One essay will win $200,000 worth of Samsung electronics and Microsoft education, productivity and entertainment software for their school.

100 Additional Prizes

100 schools will each receive $20,000 worth of Samsung electronics and Microsoft software. Plus, authors of all 101 winning essays will receive a Samsung Portable Digital Audio Player 20GB HDD MP3 Player.

How to enter: During the Contest Period, log on to www.hopeforeducation.com and complete the Official Entry Form and provide an original, sincere, no more than one hundred (100) word essay describing: "How will the growing use of technology in the classroom benefit students in the future?" Essays should focus on:

1) The specific educational benefits of new technology.

2) How advances in entertainment technology can be used to benefit education.

3) The positive long-term impacts of technology in the classroom.

All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on 7/1/05. 

Student Photo Contest from Olympus-Win a Olympus C-5060 digital camera worth $650.  Be sure to look at current entries and their descriptions before you enter your own photo(s).  Deadline is June 1st, 2005.

Design a Calculator Contest-sponsored by Scholastic and HP.   First prize is $2,000 and a calculator for grades 5-8.  Deadline is May 31st.

"Art is..."  Visit the site of VSA arts to learn more about this art contest.  The theme is discover what "Art is..."  Submit a two or three-dimensional work of art that reflects your perspective of what art is and why it is important.  See the VSA website or Mrs. Frey for more information.   Deadline is April 4, 2005.
