Winn-Dixie, Read it for a Good Laugh
Winn-Dixie, by: Kate DiCamillo
Book review by: Ilona
If you want to read a funny book I think you should read Winn-Dixie. Winn-Dixie is by Kate DiCamillo. This great book is a Newberry Honor Award Winner and it has a lot of funny and happy parts.
I recommend this book to people who like funny names. There are a lot of cool characters with funny names. For example, the main character's name is India Opal. Other names that made me laugh were Dunlap and Stewie Dewberry, Gloria Dump, Otis, and Gertrude. The funniest was the dog's name, Winn-Dixie, whose name came from the name of a grocery store.
There was sadness in this book, too. But that was okay, because at the end the relationships between India Opal and her dad, her friends, and her dog all improved. India learned that you can know many facts about a person, but it was not the same as truly knowing a person. This is a great thing for all readers to learn and it was a main theme of the story.
