Survival

Beavers need streamside homes, where they can live, but also go on land to find plants for food.  They also need deep water around their dam to put their winter stashes.  Most omnivores (meat-eating animals) will try to eat the beaver, so they have to be quick and cautious.

Interesting Facts

* Beavers slap water with their tales, as a sign to others of danger.

* If beavers didn't knaw on wood, their teeth would get so long that they couldn't eat, and they'd die.

* Beaver dams can purify water.  When the water goes through the dam, the toxics and germs will collect in the dam.
