Alexander the Great

       By: Alex

Did you know that Alexander the Great was not only a leader, but once he took over a country, he let his new country believe in their own gods?  Alexander wanted to spread  Greek culture.  But once he died, that didn't work. This all  happened in a thirty-three year time period, all over the "identified world," but almost always in Greece.  Alexander' life was effected by education, fame, religion, ruling, and death

Alexander's education was taught by Aristotle.  Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, was Alexander's tutor when he was thirteen years of age.  In addition, Aristotle taught literature, science, medicine, philosophy, geography, botany, which is the study of plants, and zoology, which is the study of animals.  For this reason, everybody called Aristotle, "Master of Those Who Know."  Besides that, when Alexander went on his missions, he always took along scientists who collected "unknown" plants and animals.   As a result, Alexander never lost a battle.

Alexander the Great was always determined.  That's why he had   fame.  For example, when Phillip, Alexander's father, was assassinated, Alexander became king.  Next, Alexander didn't choose to be a ruler.  He had to show he was worthy of being on the throne.  His first decision was to attack the Persian Empire.  They were pure monarchy.  He pushed his armies, and so for him, that equaled more countries.  But once Alexander's troops disagreed, he had to turn back.  In fact, he never lost a crusade.  Alexander had been wounded by every weapon!  Therefore, Alexander the Great ended up taking over all of the "known world."  In other words, he took over Greece, Persia, Egypt, and beyond the Indus River.

Alexander's ruling always had a major part in his life.  He conquered as much as the Gordian Knot.  The Gordian Knot is a knot, and whoever broke it ruled Asia.  But he got more than just Asia.  He did it all by himself.  He was an absolute monarchy.  All in all, Alexander's ruling led to death.

Alexander wanted a "Spread in Greek Culture."  Or in other words, Alex wanted Greek ideas and religion to spread around the world such as: architecture, art, language, and laws.  The Greeks believed in laws.  To sum it all up, like in the introduction, the spread of Greek culture didn't work.  He died instead.

Alexander's death was on June 10th, 323 B.C. He died at the age of 33.  Alexander the Great died of typhoid fever.  He turned back in Babylon, since his armies would go no further.  That's when he became sick.  In addition,  his birth and death dates were the following: Alexander was born in Pella, in 356 B.C.  He died, in 323 B.C.  Alexander's symptoms of his death were  the chills and pains in his stomach.  On the sixth day of his sickness, he had pneumonia. And on the ninth day, he couldn't even talk!  To sum it all up, at the end of his life, his determination paid off.

Sports were a major part in Greek entertainment.  But people only did sports for an object, or for money.  Also to impress the Supreme God, Zeus.  Additionally, some sports included boxing, wrestling, chariot racing, jump, running, riding, and more.  There were objects to the games.  For example boxing.  The purpose of the game, boxing, was to try not to get hit with a stick.  And a pentathlon is someone who "competed" in five different events.

In conclusion, Alexander the Great was a person of willpower and he followed his dreams.  He tried hard and succeeded.  And his reward was to have conquered all the known world.  He is a person discover to and learn about him.  So now, we know that people can consider in the impossible, because Alexander the Great did.
