Housing
In homes, art wasn't always hung on walls. As you can see in this picture mosaic floors were common in the homes of the wealthy. Mosaics are pieces of art made up of tiles to form pictures.
Homes in Pompeii were much different than modern day houses. Besides being much older, houses in Pompeii were very simple on the outside but ornate on the inside.
Columns were commonly used in most Roman buildings. In Pompeii they were used in both public buildings and houses. Columns usually were used to support roofs around gardens, courtyards, and other open areas.
