Art in Pompeii

Another type of art used in Pompeii, besides mosaics, were realistic paintings. These were paintings that were much more life-like than mosaics. Later on, artists of the Renaissance were inspired by this type of art as they searched for ways to make their art seem more life-like. 

Art was an obsession for the people of Pompeii. They put art everywhere, in gardens homes, even streets! They also created various types of art, like mosaics, realistic paintings, murals, ect.  

The citizens of Pompeii didn't always hang the art they owned on walls. Many of the rich and wealthy put art in other places. One of these places was on floors. Mosaic floors were very common in the homes of the wealthy.
