By: Chelsea S.

Why did ancient people generate myths, gods, and goddesses? You're clever, you most likely know the answer to that, right? Well that question will be answered along with many other questions floating around in your head regarding, mythology, gods and goddesses. Mythology,  gods and goddesses are a hard topic to understand, but you can comprehend easier by reading this research  paper.

Gods hail from the Greeks, the Romans and the Egyptian myths. The Egyptians,  Greeks and the Romans worshipped all different gods. Wherever the Greeks lived they built temples to the gods.  Since the gods comprise human forms, they also had many human characteristics.  The main differences between gods and humans was that gods were perfect in form and had astounding power.  Also the gods were immortal so they lived eternally on Mount Olympus.

Zeus, king of the gods and goddesses, Ruler of the Sky and Storms, Lord of the Thunderbolt, Armament of the Law. Zeus' father, Crete died,   then Zeus took over the earth. Zeus divided the earth in the midst of his brothers. Poseidon became god of the sea, Hades ruled the underworld and Zeus ruled everything else. The titans were Zeus' worst enemy, although he married one of the titan's daughters  called, Metis. Zeus married 13 women.   His wife Hera. (his 4th  wife) was the one he loved the most (he thought). He couldn't persuade his own sister to marry him, so during a storm Zeus masqueraded himself as a cuckoo and Hera pitied him. This made him prevail over Hera.  There are several stories of fighting between Hera and Zeus because of  Zeus' affairs.

Hera, wife and queen to Zeus, goddess of women and marriage. Hera was the sister of Zeus and first she refused to marry her brother. Although Hera refused to marry her brother, she did. She was Zeus' fourth marriage. She was the most jealous goddess in all of Greece, she persecuted many of Zeus' mistresses.

"Myth" comes from the Greek word mythos, meaning a written or spoken story. Saga is another word for myth. Scholars often refer to a third variety of myth as pure or true myth. Greek poet Hesiod wrote his theology on mortals and immortals. Myths have a lot to do with gods, goddesses and their interaction with human beings. Myths were told or written to answer some of the biggest questions people could ask. Myths were written to explain things that were mysterious or unknowable to us. Ancient Greek myths evolved over hundreds of years. Most of the Myths we know today were recorded by poets,  Homer and Hesiod in 8th century B.C.

All the gods and goddesses that were fabricated very long ago we today call myths. There are a few popular myths that numerous people have already read or haven't even heard of them before. The myth of Adam and Eve also known as, Prometheus and Pandora almost all people have heard of another common myth is the myth of The Greek old Testament, again, most people have heard of it.  .
