The Clearing, A Story of Mysterious Wonders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought The Clearing, by Dorothy Reynolds Miller, was a very good book.  It is a very interesting mystery.  The book also has many fascinating characters.

The Clearing is a mystery about who killed Little Bucky Mead.  The reader at first believes that Spook Wade killed Little Bucky.  Then the author gives a number of hints that the murderer is someone else.  Bucky and the murderer were best friends as children, but one day Bucky made fun of the murderer.  The murderer locked Bucky in a refrigerator to teach Bucky a lesson.  When the murderer was drunk he would shout things like, "I didn't mean to do it."  This keeps the reader in suspense regarding the identity of the murderer.

There are a number of interesting characters in The Clearing.  For example Nelson likes to fry ants with a magnifying glass.  Elinore is a bossy character who always disagrees with everyone.  You always know what's going on in Amanda's mind because she is telling the story.

The Clearing is an interesting mystery with many fascinating characters.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
