Treasure Found in Holes for Both Readers and Author
By Steve
Digging holes day after day, sleeping with thieves, a lost fortune. All of that is in Holes, written by Louis Sacher. It may sound boring to you, but to me it made it the best.
Outlaw kids are sent to Camp Green Lake by their parent's choice. As a counselor says, "You aren't in Girl Scout Camp anymore." This camp is worse then jail. Stanley (the main character) is forced to dig holes each day. At the beginning of the book it may be a little boring, but don't let that discourage you from reading the whole book because those kids aren't just digging to build character. The warden of the camp is after something valuable, something very valuable. There aren't many books that I know of that have a plot that is as surprising and interesting as this one.
Stanley's family curse affects him greatly in Holes . Stanley now has to dig holes each day that are five feet deep and five feet wide while in the blazing sun. Will Stanley's family curse ever be broken? Will Stanley ever eat something that doesn't come out of a can again? I encourage you to read Holes and find the answers to these questions.
