Lizzy
As I woke up to the smell of dead fish and an old rusty boat, I remembered that my friend Silvia and I would be fishing off of the side of the boat that day. I got up out of my hammock that I had slept in, and walked over across the old wood plank boards to Silvia’s hammock to see if she was up yet. She wasn’t up. So I opened up the door of the boat and went on the deck to look out on the lake, which is Lake Champlain. Then I heard a slammed door from behind me and I knew my dad was up. So I ran over to my dad to ask what we would be having for breakfast, but instead of him telling me what was for breakfast, he told me that we would be moving off the boat.
I sat back on my hammock and wondered why we had to move off of the boat. I had an idea, but I couldn’t think because of Silvia’s loud snoring. I decided that she had slept enough and woke her up.
"What the, what did you do that for?" said Silvia in a sleepy voice.
"Silvia, my dad said that we would be moving off the boat and I have an idea about what to do about it, but I will need your help. Will you help me?" I asked.
"Sure," Silvia said, in her sleepy voice.
"Well, I thought that in the afternoon, when he takes his afternoon nap, on the shore like he always does. We would drive the boat out for a little while, and then he will get so worried, that he will be scared and not sell the boat," I said.
"Great idea," Silvia said, a little more awake.
That morning went by so fast and so soon it was afternoon already. I asked Silvia to signal when he was asleep. Then I would start the boat.
"Ok." Silvia said more awake then ever.
My dad paddled out to shore and soon was settled in for his afternoon nap. Very
soon, I heard, " Start the engine, start the engine! He is asleep, he is asleep!" Silvia yelled loud as ever. I started the engine and we were off through the lake. Soon I saw an island and decided to tie the boat on shore there for a little bit. Just then, I felt the boat stop and saw that we hit some very high rocks, and then heard Silvia yelling,
"Bambie! We’re sinking! You hit some high rocks!" Silvia yelled at the top of her lungs.
I decided to run down to the sleeping quarters where Silvia had yelled from to see how fast the water was coming in. It was already up to my waist! I looked everywhere for Silvia, and soon found her hiding in the bed. "Silvia! We have to get out of here!" I yelled. I dragged her up the steps to the life jackets. Soon our life jackets were on and we were off swimming to get to the shore, off to the island. Then, all of a sudden a big wave came upon me and knocked me out and I think Silvia got knocked out also.

"Ah, where am I", said Silvia.
Then I woke up, and it was dark and I could barely see were I was. I yelled, "Silvia were are you?"
Then I heard Silvia say, "Lights, lights straight ahead!" She yelled kind of happy.
I looked around and soon found flashing lights almost blinding me. Then I realized the lights were attached to a boat. But then the boat turned and started going the other way. Silvia and I starting screaming, "No wait! Over here, over here, help!" we yelled together.
Then someone yelled, "Where?" All of a sudden I got so happy because it sounded like my dad. Then the boat turned our way again and roughly landed on the shore. Out popped my dad and some policemen. I was so happy to see my dad. He came up to us and said everything would be all right.
Then yelled, "But where is the boat?"
"Um, at the bottom of the lake," I said." At least we don't have to sell it."
