Life Cycle

After the cow has been pregnant she gives birth to a 23-30 lb. calf. The calf is born with it's eyes open and is able to nurse in one hour. In three or four days it is able to walk and follow it's mother. When the moose calf is 10 days old it can outrun a person. between when moose calves are born and their first two weeks they are more likely to die. For the first month the moose calf will gain 2 lbs. and after that 4 lbs. When a Moose is born it is weaned at five months and they remain with their mother for one or two years, at the age of two they reach maturity and go off on their own.
