Weather, Geography and People

Venezuela is a wonderful country teeming with diverse wildlife and amazing geographical features.  It is one of the most beautiful countries in the western hemisphere.  Here are some of the most important things for tourists to watch out for when exploring the great Venezuela. 

 

GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES: Venezuela is a place with many world landmarks.  Its capital city is the bustling city of Caracas.  There is Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world at 3,212 feet or 979 meters.  It also has the largest inland lake in South America, Lake Maracaibo.  Tropical rainforests also take up much of the southern region of Venezuela.  

LOCATION: Venezuela is on the northeastern coast of South America, bordering with the Caribbean Sea on the north, Guyana on the east, Columbia on the west and Brazil on the south.  It is a little bit below the equator, rendering it a warm climate.

ABSOLUTE LOCATION: 6' S Lat.   63.9 W Lon.

WEATHER: It is of a typical South American climate, usually being warm to hot.  It is moist at times, and cooler in higher elevations. WILDLIFE: For all of you wildlife fanatics, Venezuela also has its fair share of wildlife.  It has various creatures such as the red howler monkey, jaguars, anteaters, pumas, skunks, anacondas, black spider monkeys, the sloth and much, much more!
PEOPLE: The population of Venezuela totals at about 24,000,000, around the population of the vast Canada.  It's population is 2% indigenous and most people live in urban areas.
TOPOGRAPHY: Its highest elevation is Pico Bolivar at 16,411 feet or 5,002 meters.  Its lowest is the Caribbean Sea at sea level.  You can see the Maracaibo Lowlands and the Andes mountain range in the northwest and the Guiana Highlands in the in the southeast.
