Customs, Entertainment & Holidays
One interesting custom about Nicaragua is that whenever someone comes over and helps you prepare a meal, and it may be as simple as adding in a few spices, you have to give them at least one serving of that meal. They also believe that you will have bad luck if a neighbor or someone else sees you being stingy.
Men and woman in Nicaragua are treated very differently from each other. Men in my country are always the more "spoiled" ones, for instance, it is considered that cleaning and working around the house is a woman's job, and most men will completely refuse to do it.
During most of these celebrations the citizens of Nicaragua love to get together and become dressed up for these holidays. Their outfits are very colorful, designed in their own unique way. They also serve delicious food and they play games, which children and adults can both attend to.
For entertainment, Nicaraguans like to play baseball the most. Besides that, the other sport that is played frequently is soccer. In addition, they like to play track and field, tennis, and for those who have more money, they like to sail. As for some spectator sports, the most popular ones are bullfighting and cockfighting. For other activities, Nicaraguans love to talk on the phone, listen to the radio, and go to the beach.
