Language, Religion & Government
The type of government in Nicaragua is republican. Executive power is held by the president, who is popularly elected for a five-year term. Members of the unicameral legislature are also elected for a term of five years.
The two major religions of Nicaragua are Roman Catholicism, which is 88 percent of the country's religion, and the other main religion is Protestant, which is 12 percent of the country's religion.
The official language of Nicaragua is Spanish. The majority of the country speaks it, and for those who do not speak Spanish, they speak some small English.
