Description
The height of  a deer is 3 to 3 1/2 ft.  The weight of a male (BUCK) is 75 to 400 lbs. and female ( Doe)  is 50 to 250 lbs..  The Whitetail deer got its name from its white tail..  Its fur changes reddish brown in the summer to grayish brown in fall.  The males deer tracks have two dots on the back of their hoof.

Habitat
The white tails habitat is pine forest, swamp, and brushy areas.

 

Range
The range is most of the United States southern Canada and northern Mexico.

Food
Their diet is made up of twigs, shrubs, acorns, grass, and herbs.  

 

Life Cycle
A females can mate around 1 and 1/2 years old.  The gestation period is about 6 and 1/2 months.  They usually have one or two fawns.

Survival
The whitetail deer needs forest, farms, apples, tree buds,  grass and water to survive. 

 

Facts
1. They eat acorns.

2. They live in the wild to about 16.5  years old.

3. They live in the rain forest.

Human Impact
Human impact happens when farms go out of business and when forested land is developed.
