Holes                October 1st, 2002

I recently read the book Holes, by Louis Sachar.   The main character in my book is Stanley Yelnats.   He is a child which chooses to go to a boys discipline camp,  instead of jail. He is forced to dig holes for the sake of the warden finding a treasure chest.  In the end, Stanley gets caught  by the teachers with his treasure chest, and the teachers almost take it, but can't. In the very end, Stanley  gets to go home, as he wanted!

In my book, it was confusing, and it had a lot of good concrete detail, it explains things most books wouldn't.   For example, if it didn't have good detail, then when Stanley, and the other  boys were digging holes, it would be really, really boring.  For the confusion part, it was really confusing when the two stories converted. But at the end of the book, it came together, and it wasn't so confusing.

In the end of the book Holes, Stanley and Zero got caught with the big treasure chest after a really long time on their way back from running away, and the warden almost took it, but Stanley's lawyer was their.  He said that the chest was Stanley's because it said Stanley Yelnats on it .  When Stanley finally got home, he showed his dad, and his dad had to crack it open, and there sat treasures, and jewels.  After that, they had a big party for Stanley, and Zero got to live with them, because he didn't have a home.

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend/others, because I really enjoyed this book, and most of my friends think I have good taste, also some of my friends have read it and said it was good.  If I had t rate this book, I would rate it a five because it interesting, it has good concrete detail, and it's funny in some parts, it's also the best book I've read so FAR this year!
