Joey
"Hi are you Marco?," Joey asked the man behind the counter.
"Yes I am," he replied, "What can I do for you?"
Excitedly Joey answered, "I saw the sign in the window and I wondered if I could have a job here?"
"Sure, follow me."
Marco led Joey into a brightly lit room filled with ovens and covered in white flower. There was a big window where the chefs passed hot pizzas to the customers. "The first thing you will need to do is make pizza." Marco showed Joey how to make and kneed dough. "This is the best part" Marco said, "now we get to spin the pizzas." He threw his dough up in the air, it spun really fast and then he caught it. Joey tried, he threw it up into the air and it went flying through the open window into the restaurant and hit a man in the face.
The startled man fell out of his chair. He got up, yelled some rude words into the kitchen, and stormed out of the door. "Sorry man!" Joey called after him, "You can have that pizza if you want." Everyone was silent and they were staring at Joey.
Marco was looking at Joey in a way that told him, "Why did I hire him?" Then Marco broke the silence and said, " Maybe you should work at the cash register instead?"
Marco and Joey left the kitchen. They slowly entered the restaurant. Everyone was talking and eating pizza again. They squeezed behind the counter where they first met. He showed Joey a big cash register covered with little buttons. "This button opens it and these buttons with the numbers on them work like a calculator," and so on until Joey learned how to use it. A man walked up to the counter. "Joey" Marco whispered, " Why don’t you take his order and I will wait for you in the kitchen."
Marco walked away and Joey excitedly jumped behind the counter. "Hey man! How can I help you?" Joey said, completely different than Marco taught him.
"I would like to order a medium cheese and a small green pepper and pepperoni pizza," said the man. Joey in his excitement forgot that he was supposed to push certain buttons on the register. Joey punched in some random ones and made the man pay three times the amount he was supposed to. The customer didn’t say anything and left to go find a seat. Joey walked back to the kitchen and quickly found Marco. "The man wants a large pineapple and mushroom pizza and a house cheese and green pepper pizza.
"Good job!" said Marco as he left to make the pizzas. A few minutes later the pizzas were done and Marco sent Joey to go deliver them to the man. Proudly Joey left the kitchen and walked over to the man’s table and put the pizzas down.
Almost instantly the man’s kids started yelling, "Gross!" "Disgusting!" "Yuck!" Joey turned to look at the man. His face was full of anger and disgust.
"Is anything wrong?" Joey asked happily.
The man glared at Joey as he started shouting, "You charged me way too much and then you bring us these disgusting pizzas!" He stood up, said, "Come on" to his kids, and then marched out the door.
"Have a good day." Joey called after them. He walked back to the kitchen.
"How did it go?" Marco asked as Joey walked in.
"Great!" said Joey "except that the man ran away when I brought the pizzas out and I don’t know why." Again Marco stared at Joey the same way he did after Joey threw the pizza across the room.
"I have a question," Marco said. "One of our deliverers is sick tonight and I wondered if you could deliver it for me?"
"Sure" answered Joey. Then he took the pizza and went outside to his car. Joey got in, put the pizza in the seat next to him, started the car and drove away. He was about half way down the road when he realized he didn’t know where he was supposed to deliver it. Joey drove back.
"Your already back?" said Marco.
"No," said Joey, "I don’t know where the house is."
"Oh," said Marco, "It is house number 3 on Adams Ct.
"Thanks" said Joey as he left. He got back into his car and drove to Adams Ct Joey got out of the car and went up to the house of number 2. He knocked on the door. Joey waited for a few minutes and no one came. He tried again and no one came. Joey didn’t know what to do. He finally decided he would leave the pizza there so when the people came back they could have it. Joey left the pizza on the doorstep, got back into his car and then drove back to Marco’s Pizza.
"How did it go," asked Marco when Joey got back.
"Good" said Joey, "except that no one was home. Marco stared at Joey. "Where is the Pizza?"
"I left it there."
"Then where is the money?"
"Didn’t get it."
Marco was still staring at Joey and quietly said, " This is the Third time you have messed up and you have made a lot of the customers leave. I’m sorry but I’m afraid I will have to fire you!"
"Sorry man." said Joey, "But I thought I was doing a good Job." Joey left the restaurant and got into his car. He was about half way down the street when Joey thought of something, "I wonder if Zachary’s Pizza needs any help?"…
