Life Cycle
After the cow has been pregnant she gives birth to a 25-30 pound calf. The calf is born with it's eyes open and is able to nurse in about one hour. In three or four days it is able to walk and follow its mother. When the moose is 10 days old it can outrun a person.  Between the time they are born and the first two weeks of life they are most likely to die. For the first month the moose calf will gain two pounds a day and after that they will gain four pounds a day!  The calves are weaned at five months.  They stay with their mother for one or two years.
