Independent Reading Assignment
- Scores below 90% will require a second IRA.
- Look at score sheet on reverse side before answering
questions.
I need to read _______ pages per day to finish this book and
these assignments on time.
- Explain how the book begins. Predict what you think is
going to happen.
- Who is the main character in the book? Describe him/her/it
making inferences and using five or more adjectives; write a complete
paragraph.
- Describe a personal connection you have made with the story
up to this point.
- If you could give this book another title, what would it be
and why?
- Answer one of these two questions:
a. Do any of the characters remind you of someone in your
life? Or,
b. Does this book remind you of another book? Why?
- Explain about one time that the main character did the
right thing.
- Pick out two characters you would like to meet. Explain, in
detail, why you would like to meet them.
- If you could give the main character in this book a gift,
what would it be and why would you give it to them?
- What do you think is the theme of the book, or the lesson
that is learned?
- Compare how the story turned out to how you predicted it
would turn out in question #1.
- IRA’s must be word-processed and must be formatted
properly.
