The year is 2228, time travel has been in use for over 100 years. The world government has given the o.k. for the average citizen to use time travel for vacations. As a travel agent for Middle Ages/Europe, it is your job to create a travel brochure for future clients. READ THE "PROCESS" BELOW VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING THE DUE DATE AND FIRST PRESENTATION IS APRIL 13 1. You will use PowerPoint to create a presentation with text and graphics to show prospective clients the Middle Ages in Europe. You will often find links to help you with your project. If you do not, use info from your textbook, the web quest and our videos to provide your information. 2. You will present the PowerPoint to the class. The "voice and tone" of your presentation will be to try to persuade the audience to sign on with your travel agency to visit the Middle Ages. You will be expected to be knowledgeable. 3. When you put images on the PowerPoint page, put a caption underneath it. You will be expected to know what the things on the page are and, in your presentation, be able to explain them. 1.Create a "title page" for your presentation. It should have a catchy travel agency name, as well as something to identify Europe in the Middle ages as the destination. http://members.easyspace.com/Brig/mca/clips.html has history clipart to save and use. 2. Create a page that has a map that shows your clients Europe (in the middle ages) so they can decide where to visit. http://historymedren.about.com/library/atlas/blatcendex.htm http://www.historylink101.com/middle_ages_europe/middle_ages_maps.htm
3.Your clients will be used to the idea of a unified World Government, so the concept of monarchy and feudalism will be alien to them. Briefly describe the type of government in Europe at that time. The link below and your textbook are more than adequate to provide this info. You will need, in your oral presentation, to address the issue of how this system functioned to allow people to improve their own lives economically and how to participate in the government. http://www.learner.org/exhibits/middleages/feudal.html
4.Of course travelers would be interested in accommodations. Your travel agency has arranged accommodations in a choice of castles. You will need to place a couple of pictures on page 4 along with the description of the facilities (bathing, bedrooms, servants, washrooms, etc.). You should briefly tell us about the parts of a castle Click below for pictures and info about castles. Photos http://www.castlesontheweb.com/photoarchive/index.php Info on Life in a Castle http://www.castles-of-britain.com/castle33.htm Aerial view of some castles http://www.castles-of-britain.com/castle16.htm Castle parts and terminology http://www.castles-of-britain.com/castlesi.htm Every traveler needs some entertainment.

Give the travelers a quick sample. Be sure to describe what each piece is. Basic background info http://www.learner.org/exhibits/middleages/artsentr.html Sculpture http://www.netserf.org/Art/Sculpture/Architectural/ Art sites to demonstrate what the travelers might see http://www.historylink101.com/middle_ages_europe/middle_ages_art.htm
Page 7. Your clients will want to blend in with the other
people of Europe. They will need some direction in how to dress. In
the middle ages it depended largely upon your class in society.
Page 8. All travelers are concerned about possible illness while on vacation. Unfortunately, time travel is not instantaneous, it will take a day to set up a return for the sick vacationer. On page 8 describe the medicine of the time. http://www.learner.org/exhibits/middleages/health.html
Page 9 - Describe the food your client would encounter. http://www.learner.org/exhibits/middleages/
If you choose and time allows you may create a closing page that will accompany your "concluding paragraph."
You should have slide that listes the resources that you used to complete your project.
Hints for a well planned brochure: * use one background throughout * make sure your images show up on your background * plagiarism is not allowed in the future - put facts in your own words * choose any animations carefully - a prospective client will only watch so much "flying in, letter by letter."
