I recently read All the Way Home, by Patricia Reilly Giff. It is a story about Mariel trying to find her real mom. The problem is that no one knows where her real mom is. Later in the book, she finds out that when she was little,  her mother Mary caught polio, and before the ambulance arrived, her mother was already gone. Before her mom died, she put Mariel's name pinned onto her shirt. Everybody thought it said Mariel, but it really said MARY.

I really did like this book, because it is exciting. I think this because a boy and his parents apple harvest burns down during a drought. The boy is sent to live with Mariel and Loretta. Then when Mariel finds out where he lived, she runs away with him, back to Windy Hill. She used to be hospitalized in the Windy Hill hospital. She finds out what happens to her mother and goes home again to live with Loretta. Loretta and the neighbor hood policeman fall in love. Mariel makes it home just in time to see her favorite baseball player and has him sign her napkin.

All the Way Home is a great book. I would recommend it to all readers. I think this because, even though it starts out slow, I think it gets very interesting near the end. Its not very funny. It is more of a sad story, than a funny one. To learn more, go read it yourself.
