The Cafeteria FoodAmanda

“Meatloaf, yuck!” The taste was disgusting.  Hi, I’m Lily let me tell you what happened the day I had to eat the cafeteria food.  It was a beautiful day at school when I got off the bus.  I was minding my own business when I realized I forgot my lunch.  I was like totally wigging out.  I couldn’t believe I was so stupid.  I had no time to panic because just then the bell rang and I ran inside.

When I got into the classroom, everyone was sitting down waiting for me.  The classroom was small it had two windows, a teachers desk that was very nice, and kids desks that were rusty lined in rows of five.

“You’re late!” Mrs. Muffler grunted at me. I hated Mrs. Muffler she is such a jerk. Mrs. Muffler was big and I mean big.  Billy a boy in my class used to say you could see Mrs. Muffler a mile away because she is so big until she heard him once and sent him to the principal.  She has corn colored hair and her skin was as pale as a ghost.

“Sorry, bus problems.” I said as I sat down waiting for Mrs. Muffler to stop looking at me so I could whisper to my friend Erica to meet me after class.  Then the bell rang and I was free to talk to Erica.  “Erica!” I yelled down the hall.  She turned and saw me running to her so she stopped.  Erica had dark as the night hair and tan skin like she went to the beach everyday.

“Hi Lily, what’s up?” Erica happily said.

“What’s up? How could you be so happy at a time like this!”

            “What do you mean?”

“Erica, today I have to eat the cafeteria food. I really don’t want to but, if I don’t eat I will starve and…”

“Lily! Calm down its just food it is no different then the food your mom makes for you.”

“But, every time I go in the cafeteria it stinks and if I eat that food it could be contaminated with poison.”

“Today at lunch time I will come with you Lily, just to prove the food is fine.”

            “But!”

            “No buts.”

Then came lunch time. I was so nervous.  I stood in front of the big brown doors my legs were shaking and I was waiting for a giant hand to grab me and pull me in.  There was no giant hand but, in a flash Erica was behind me and in another flash she had me through the doors.  The cafeteria had marble floors and tile sidewalls. I could see the kids shoveling the food into their mouths. I could hear the principal yelling six and four.     I smelled the horrible smells. I got in line and grabbed a tray and almost put it down again but Erica was persistent on getting me to eat.  I took small steps through the line but it was my turn before I knew it.  I shut my eyes tight so I couldn’t see what the lunch lady put on my tray.  I typed in my pin number and ran out of the line still not looking down at the food.  My stomach was growling at me and I had to eat even if I didn’t like it.  I sat down at a table and felt the food on my tray it felt like bread but I think it was meat.

“Take a bite.”

I took the fork and stuck it in the food. (Still holding the fork I pulled it out taking a piece out of the food.)

            “Come on eat it!”

Erica was starting to get on my nerves.  My heart was pumping I was so scared my whole body was shaking.  I put the fork in my mouth and grabbed the food with my teeth. Then at that very moment I realized it was meatloaf!  The taste was disgusting.  I chewed and chewed as fast as I could.  Erica was cracking up and I was getting sick and then…!  I don’t want to tell you the next part but Erica had to change her cloths.

After that day I never ate lunch from the lunchroom again and every day Erica brought spare cloths just in case
