Lily's Crossing

                Book Review By: Andrea Santiago

I recently read Lily's Crossing by Patricia Reilly Giff. The book is about a girl named Lily Mollahon. She's a 11 years old  on her summer vacation. Lily's father went off to sail the seas in 1944 for the world war 2. She gets letters from him almost every week. Her best friend Margaret Dillon, Her brother went to war too. Her summer ends up being a total nightmare.

I loved this book because Patricia Reilly Giff put so much detail into the book that it made it almost like a movie in my head. I didn't want to put the book down. The book starts off in 1944 and ends exactly in 1945. So in that time She put in the book what Lily did every single day. My favorite character would have to be Albert, he's Hungarian and has no more family members alive besides his big sister. He's funny and sneaky, sensitive and demanding. In this book there are a lot of  Hungarian words in it so I would be careful and watch out for words like that.

Lily's crossing Is a GREAT book. I would recommend this book for kids or adults who likes sad books. This book has a lot of friends helping friends. You have to like to read to read this book because when you start you can't put it down. When I first started it I couldn't put it down.
