The 16th
Birthday!
Bring, bring, bring, the alarm clock rang! “Oh, I’m so tired,” cried Alexa. Alexa slowly got out of bed and looked at the alarm clock. “ What! It’s only five ‘o’clock am in the morning? But I normally set my alarm clock to eight ‘o’clock on weekends. Why did I set it so early today? Oh well,” Alexa`1 replied.
Alexa tiredly, hummed on her way to the bathroom. “ Let’s see what day it is today!” Alexa stared at the calendar with her eyes opened wide and her mouth in a tunnel position. Alexa stood still for a while and then…
“No way, it’s my 16th birthday today? That’s why I set my alarm clock so early today! But there’s a big problem, we didn’t plan for the party yet!” Alexa shouted consciously!
“Mom, dad, shouted Alexa. It’s my sixteenth birthday and we’ve got absolutely no special plans!
“Oh yes we do dear, answered her mom! We’ve planed to have a nice, and cozy family party.”
“This is how I imagine it, added dad. We’ll have a small cake with 16 candles on top of it, and we’ll also…
“No, no, no,” cried Alexa!
“But dear, we always have a family celebration every year!” Replied her mom.
“Exactly! This time I want to do some thing different, I want to invite my friends this time. I mean, it’s my 16th birthday! I think for once should do some thing special.” Said Alexa as she cried.
Just then, the doorbell rang loudly. Alexa wiped her tears as she slowly opened the door.
“Oh my goodness! Look at how much you grew, honey! I remember the last time I saw you. You were only four years old. I remember your red, and chubby cheeks, and I also remember you wearing two pigtails on your head with red, and shinny ribbons tied to them! When you stood up, you could only reach up to my knees, and…”
“And you are?” Asked Alexa.
“You don’t recognize me? I’m your favorite aunt Trudy! I’ll go up stairs to get some rest, Okay.”
As soon as aunt Trudy went up stairs, Alexa started again…
“If I don’t get to have a birthday party then I don’t want to have any kind of celebration at all!”
And then she marched up stairs, went to her room and locked her door!
“Do you think what Alexa said is a good idea?” Replied her mom.
“ I heard Alexa moaning about having a party!” Said aunt Trudy.
“Well, she was, but…”
“I have the most perfect idea! I think that we should do a tea party for her, and don’t worry, I’ll surely remember to invite all of her friends! Oh, Just wait until I tell her, she’ll be so happy! Well, I got to get going, got to go shopping you know!”
As soon as aunt Trudy stepped out the door, Alexa marched down stairs and…
“No! There’s no way that I’m going to celebrate my 16th birthday by having a tea party! And of course, I’m not going to invite my friends to a tea party! My friends are going to think that I’m a geek. Please mom and dad, will you tell aunt Trudy for me?” Cried Alexa.
“Well dear, If that’s how you feel about the tea party, the why don’t you tell her your self, she’ll understand.” Her mom exclaimed!
“But I can’t! What if she doesn’t understand? What if it hearts her feelings? And what if she never, ever comes to visit us again?
“Alexa, I think that you should go up to your room and think about what’s the right thing to do, dear.” Dad told her!
As soon as Alexa faced behind her, aunt Trudy was right behind her and looking at her with open eyes!
“Aunt Trudy, when have you come back? Didn’t you go shopping?” Alexa asked surprisingly.
“Let’s not get off the subject, Alexa! You don’t want to have the tea party for your 16th birthday, do you?”
“Yaaa, not really!” I wanted to tell you but I was afraid you’d get angry with me! You’re not angry, are you?”
“No, of course not! And you know what? Now we can celebrate your 16th birthday by having a big party and we’ll invite your friends, and…”
“Thanks aunt Trudy but you know what, nothing can be more exciting to
me than having a small, family celebration!”
