The Road to Memphis

    I recently read The Road to Memphis, by Mildred D. Taylor.  It is a story about Moe Turner, a black man, hitting a white man; and in the end his friends drive him north to safety.  I really did enjoy this book because it had a great plot and was very suspenseful. 

    One of the characters I really liked was Jeremy Simms.  Jeremy is a white man who respects black men even though his dad doesn't allow him.  I feel Jeremy follows his heart, which is why I like him so much.  The plot in this story is also great.  There were chase scenes, in cars, and emotional scenes which want to make you cry.  

    The Road to Memphis is a great book.  I would recommend it for middle school readers.
