Greetings from the teachers and students of the Odyssey Team. We are all back at work after a restful and much needed vacation. Students worked extremely hard in the last few weeks prior to the break preparing for our Technology Demonstration and Ancient Cultures Fair. Many thanks to those who were able to attend. The results of students’ work can be seen on the team website along with back issues of our newsletter. Take the time to visit the site and admire the students’ efforts.

We are pleased to announce that Bailey Hoar was named a co-winner of the FHTMS UVM Sixth Grade Writing Contest. Elena Weinberg received an honorable mention for her efforts. Their essays were selected to represent our team in the school-wide competition. At the team level Brittany Patton, Abby Mitchell and Alex Gadway also received honorable mention.

CONFERENCES: Spring conferences will be held on April 10^th and 11^th. Odyssey’s conferences will be on Wednesday from 3:30 until 6:30 and Thursday from 3:30 until 8:00. PLEASE NOTE that you will receive a mailing from the school shortly. The Wednesday times are slightly different than indicated on the mailing.

TEAM BUILDING: On Friday March 22 we will go on a team building trip to Yankee Lanes. We will depart after lunch so students will only miss their afternoon class. We believe that team-building trips greatly facilitate positive interactions between the students during their academic day. The cost is $7.00. PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN THE PERMISSION SLIP ON THE REVERSE SIDE.

MONTREAL: We are busy making plans for a trip to Montreal. The date will be Friday, May 24^th. A good portion of the expense will be covered by the magazine drive proceeds. More details will follow in April.

JULIUS CAESAR:

• We are very fortunate to have a Flynn Theatre teaching artist visit our class once a week between now and the performance. She will introduce us to theatre, offer an audition workshop and then help us with the production. Funding is through an English Vertical Team grant and the PTO enrichment grant.
• If you can help with our production of Julius Caesar there will be an organizational meeting on Tuesday, March 19^th after school in Mr. Wight’s room. This is intended to map out the various chores that have to be completed before the play on April 17.
