TEACHER'S COMMENTS
Although I am biased, I
love the stories included on our web site. They are original works that went through considerable
development by their 11 year old authors.
We
decided to publish these stories on the web because we believe that publication
is an important part of writing. If you can help us by reading a story and e
mailing a constructive comment (directed to the student) to my e mail address,
it would greatly contribute to our effort to make our writing meaningful. Try
reading a story by a student whose first name begins with the same letter as
your first name.
We
have included the titles of the stories to help you in finding one that you may
be interested in reading. These were written to the Vermont Narrative Writing
Rubric. We focused on writing a coherent sequence of events. We tried to
include meaningful dialogue, use descriptive language and dramatize the action.
These are the students' stories with plenty of coaching but no significant content revision
from the teacher. We hope you enjoy them. Please forward
our web address to a friend.
Finally, a comment about the web site. It was designed and
constructed entirely by students from the team with technical advice from Barb
Gill. Special acknowledgement should go to Alex, Andrew, Brittany, Dan, Jacob
and Matt.
