Odyssey Team
The Odyssey Team has been busy since the first of the year. As of today (1-21) they are half way through the school year. Parents should look for second quarter report cards to be sent home on Friday, January 31. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. McGowan or Mr. Wight. Since you are reading this you have found your way to our web site. It is presently under construction, over the next few weeks we will connect many of the links that are inactive as stories and projects are prepared. In Science students had a visit from "Bat Man." They were treated to a multitude of interesting facts about bats from around the world. The presentation included a slide show. They will investigate Vermont mammals next which will include a presentation by the group "Keeping Track" and a visit on February 21st to the Vermont Audubon for winter tracking. Each student will research a Vermont mammal and complete a web project for presentation to the class. In Language Arts we have been writing poetry. Students have written free verse, haiku, limericks and some have even experimented with sonnets. Next week we will begin Shakespeare's Julius Caesar in conjunction with the start of Ancient Rome in Social Studies. In Social Studies we are just completing a visit to Ancient Greece with an investigation of the Greek gods and heroes. In Math we are learning about fractions, converting them to decimals and then back to fractions. Students are learning the practical applications of these processes. Soon we will beginning with converting both of these to percentages and applications to every day use. Click Here
