First Day of School for 6th grade and New Students is 8:30 - 11:30 am on Tuesday August 25th. Students will have an opportunity to hear about their classes, take tours and have lunch at FHTMS. Our bus services will be up and running!

Open Building Monday August 24, 2026 3:00 - 6:00 pm. Open Building is a "drop in" time for students to get their draft schedules and locker assignments. Students will be able to follow the map of the building to walk their route to class and try their locker combinations. Families are welcome, plan on about 15-30 minutes of time.

Wednesday, April 8 is a student late arrival day. School will begin at 10:30 AM. During this time, staff will be engaged in professional learning focused on Restorative Practices to continue supporting a positive and inclusive school community.

Student-Led Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 from 1:00–3:30 PM. Your student’s SLC facilitator has sent an email with information to schedule your conference. These conferences are an important opportunity for students to share their learning and progress with you.

Students will participate in the Vermont Common Assessment Program (VTCAP) during the testing window of April 2 through April 10. All students will complete assessments in Math and English Language Arts. In addition, all 8th grade students will take the VTCAP Science assessment during this same timeframe.

Our Polaris 6th graders kicked off middle school with an early field trip to Red Rocks Park! Students explored forest trails, skipped stones along the lakeshore, and worked together on problem-solving challenges that built teamwork and new friendships. A lucky fossil discovery and plenty of laughter made the morning unforgettable. What a beautiful way to begin their middle school journey!

Our Middle School Open House is a great opportunity for caregivers to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and learn more about what students will experience this year. In addition to engaging in your child's daily schedule we will also have a meeting with parents and caregivers at the following times. We recommend 6th grade families arrive by 5:30 and 7th and 8th grade around 6:00 pm. We are excited to see you whenever you can arrive.
